In 1876 Giseppe Ghedina “de Iustina“ broght this traditional Haus with stable. He was a good artisan in Silverfiligree objects production. This Art come in Cortina from far East, through the old Venetians dealers and had here a incredible development with many masterpieces, from mid 1700 to first 1900 years.
In his workroom, where now is the Bar located, beside his Sun Massimiliano he was helped from 8 jang women. At the end of 1800 they opened a little Inn.
Doring the first Worldwar the House was left to Austrian and then to the Italian troops, and had vary bad damages.
After the War, Massimiliano started again his work and get married with Giuditta Menardi “ Sèla” , who come from a vary dynamic dealers Family .
With the growing Tourism in Cortina Vally, she made her best to better organize the ospitality of the Guests, many where relatives of people staying at the nearby Hospital “ Codivilla“.
Doring the second Worldwar part of the house become a little school for nearby living children and then again was used as a Checkpoint from Germans, Americans and Italians soldiers.
After the War Giuditta and all the Family worked hard trying to give always better hospitality to their Guests and the old Inn “Villa alla Verra” become the Hotel des Alpes.
In 1956 just before the Olimpic Games of Cortina the house was fully renovated and doring the games gave hospitality to the Finnish team.
Since then the Sons and now the Grandsons of Giuditta and Massimiliano Ghedina took over the running of the Hotel and in summer 2006 we decided to make a new complete renovation of the old house, as to offer once again the best comfort and hospitality to our Guests.
